Shipping vehicles from USA to UK SCAMMERS hidden charges!

Avoid these scammers pls as I have used this company to ship a container load of cars from the USA to the UK. I was given a quote and everything was paid for in full in advance. It took them ages before the container was finally shipped. When the container finally arrived it was held “hostage” at their selected clearing agent until a made up charge of nearly $4000.00 was paid (more than the shipping quote). They give you a quote at the beginning but at the end you pay double, more than the legitimate companies. They hold your stuff until you pay and if you don’t pay they charge you additional “storage fees”. Pirates avoid at all cost.

Very Impressed

I am completely delighted with the service from Schumacher Cargo Logistics. Though there were a few hiccups along the way, everything worked out and I received my full shipment from New York, USA to Brittany, France. First, the company was very patient in the way that I submitted payment. Secondly, Customs wanted to add fees. One of the required documents from Schumacher was a Visa which I wasn’t getting so the shipment went under my husband’s name as he has been a resident of France for the past year and a half. Since it was over a year that we sent our items from the US, Customs thought this shipment was going to be for profit. However, Lorinda, on the French side, went beyond the call of duty and put the shipment under my name (I have only been in France for a few months) and saved the day. Thirdly, yes, there were additional fees for the shipment as the sales person can only guesstimate what you are sending. My square footage was more than estimated and I had to pay extra. Moves are very costly even if you are not shipping across the seas! Fourthly, our delivery team were very respectful and careful bringing in all the boxes and furniture. I highly recommend this company and will use them again as I still have a few things in the States. Thank you! JoAnne

These people are awful - do not use them.

HORRIBLE company - RUN

If I could leave -5 stars I would. This company is beyond awful. They are impossible to talk with and are incredibly arrogant when you have any issues. They did the bait and switch on us too about shipping space and extra charges. Like others here, we had expensive tools stolen. When we tried to make a claim on insurance for damages and missing items we were told it would not be covered and we couldn't make a claim. Getting anyone to respond to our concerns was impossible and required incessant emailing. Then 10 months after the shipping process we get a surprise bill for an insurance policy we were not allowed to use. Because I don't trust them, I went around them and tried to get confirmation from the "insurance company" that we ever even had a policy. They, after consulting with Schumacher, said they could not discuss the matter with us and refused to tell me whether they policy had even been paid for. I cannot begin to tell you how bad these people are. I also notice that their Google reviews are turned off - THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT. Why would the old Google reviews be 4.7, but here it is really low?? That should tell you everything you need to know.

Transport.

If you want to have an unfogettable experience then try this company.
They even cannot manage to take the right name or adress ( in my case thay took a name of an attached bill of somebody as my name) nor do they follow the given order.
If you look at the attached picture of the just opened container then you do not need to know more. But you have to keep in mind what my order was ( for which I paid $ 3900.00):
packing of all car parts and transport of my car and parts in a single container from L.A.- to my home in Germany.
What Schumacher did was: no packing at all - as you see -, adding two wrotten cars ( mine is hidden below the foreign cars on the picture) from somewhere to the container, smashing parts into the container as it would be a waste bin ( a crankcase of 50 pounds landed on a new inlet port with carburettors). The result: damages at a invaluable Porsche prototype engine..
Stay away from such people who do not care at all about other's goods. They call it "inconvenience".

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Bradenton, FL

Excessive Charges for Shuttle Service.

I hired Doree Bonner (UK) to move my property from the UK to the USA and paid the full cost quoted for door-to-door delivery. The property (29 boxes) was eventually delivered 4 months later after a 6 to 10-week promised delivery time. Schumacher Cargo Logistics Inc. was hired as the local contractor to get my property from the port to my address. They used an 18 wheeled articulated vehicle to deliver the 29 boxes. Upon arrival, the driver refused to enter the gated community with the lorry and said he would go to the local U-Haul and hire a vehicle to move my goods into and thereafter deliver the goods to me. For that privilege, he told me that it would cost me an additional $250USD. This is the first time I was ever informed of the extent of that cost. The driver never made any attempt to enter the community to deliver the goods. The narrowest point the vehicle would have to negotiate was 14 feet wide (this is the gate entrance) with a direct approach from the main road. Thereafter, 23 feet and the narrowest and 25 feet wide at the widest point with all parked vehicles outside of this measurement. There was also another entrance which was twice as wide but the driver only used it to exit the property. I feel like I was 'held over a barrel' insofar as the delivery was concerned. If you decide to use either of these companies to deliver your property please make sure you are aware of this scam.

Worst experience ever.

Schumacher made a terrible job.
We asked the team as soon as they arrived to protect the house as its a brand new house and we don t want any damages.
The team was a team of 3 guys.
As soon as they arrived they started complaining about doing the job, they were taking it easy and didn’t protect anything.
The container in Switzerland has been very well handled and loaded by rooms, very organized to make the job easy for the move in team.
One guy was the team manager and spent the morning over the phone.
The two other guys started unloading for the container to leave as soon as possible, not taking in consideration the good work that was done loading it in.
They didn’t t pay attention placing the boxes upside down.. my husband has to stop them before they put the mattress on the street ground. Then seeing that they kept on complaining he decided to help them out as it was already a while they were here and nothing was in the house.
The two guys were complaining about how it wasn’t mentioned to them to bring the boxes in and to unpack and rebuild furniture ( as we opted for a full service removal). Even if we showed them our contract mentioning all prestations included they kept on denied. They explained they were not part of Schumacher company, just 2 random guys hired to do the job, that they have been told just to unload and that’s all.
Seeing how everything was going in I started to unpack all fragile items and then all the rest.
My husband had to rebuild the furniture as the guys didn’t t want to do it.
In the middle of this the team manager left his phone and decided, as we pushed for it, to go to the Recology point to remove some debris.
Before leaving us in this mess he handed my husband 500$ to pay the two guys.
That felt unreal. How come would us have to pay the two guys??
As he left, the two guys came to us saying the manager will not come back and they decided to leave with our house full of unpacked boxes, I assembled furnitures and full of debris. My husband gave them the money and they still asked for a tip!! Unbelievable. Of course as they didn’t protect the house as we required many times we have stain on the carpet, scratches and holes on the wall and near the entrance door.
Feeling bad as he said, the manager came back when he found out the guys were gone. We contacted Relocately immediately to let them know what was going on.
The guys was no use unless the bring the debris out which he did and then left.
My husband before the manager left wrote everything down to email Relocately but also in the Schumacher contract.
Now 2 months after we are still waiting for Schumacher insurance to refund the money for the diamanté’s made in the brand new house and still awaiting for a compensation from Relocately.
The big joke is we have been offered 150$ compensation for a full day of work for 2 people ( m’y husband and I) where we were not supposed to do anything, and the 2 guys left with 500$ damaging our house and the job not completed !!
Relocately defending they are doing us a favor when Schumacher do not accept our version of the facts.
So how can I recommend both of them??
When you move abroad, and we are use to it, we never had any issues, we don t have to do anything and it takes a 6h job. Of course there is some organization to be made when the team leave but we never were in this nightmare situation with 2 young kids in the middle.
As I said, it is 2 months and neither the compensation neither the insurance payment have been done yet.

Unprofessional Staff From California to Valencia, Spain

MUST READ. The complaint involves a damaged vehicle, numerous missing household items (The estimated value of the items that turned up missing is approximately $10,150.00), and excessive fees (above 60% of original quote) which were not disclosed by Schumacher Cargo & Logistics Inc. I was charged an additional $4,698 fee for services provided by Hamburg Sud Singapore Express (Voyage 004E). I was never informed that a separate transport fee was to be charged for transport services by Hamburg Sud. Although, it was one 40-foot overseas exclusive freight container, Schumacher Cargo & Logistics, Inc., created two different invoices (HBLs) LGB007286 and LGB007288. However, they did not notify us that by creating two different invoices, this would consequently affect us because we would incur duplicate charges for one 40-foot freight container at each port of inspection to its final destination, Valencia, Spain. On January 30, 2020, we received an email message our container was picked by US Customs for a random inspection. However, on February 5, 2020, we received another email we were required to pay the amount of $146.46 USD for a "release charge by mistake". We contacted Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc. by phone and email requesting an explanation for this additional charge. They never replied by phone nor email but we only received threats indicating that if we did not pay this additional amount, they would leave our items at the present port and not continue to ship our items to its destination. The only reply by Schumacher Cargo & Logistics was "shipment On Hold". At the present time, we do not know why Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc., charged us for this amount because they never had the courtesy to return our calls and emails. Furthermore, on March 11, 2020, they billed us for additional charges of $4,698 USD ($2588.40 and $2,110) for CUSTOMS INSPECTION AND DEMURRAGE HAMBURG SUD (CARRIER) FEES. Similarly, I called and emailed Schumacher Cargo Logistics to inquire of these additional charges. The only reply was threats on their behalf that if we did not pay the additional fees our belongings would not arrive to the destination. Consequently, due to the coronavirus travel restrictions, we were unable to pick up the shipment until September 26, 2020. Henceforth, we were required to pay storage ($4,331.17) starting March 25, 2020, to the date when the container arrived to its destination-Valencia, Spain. After travel restrictions were lifted, we were finally able to pick up our shipment at the storage site. Upon taking inventory of the items, the following items were missing. In addition to the missing items, one of vehicles was damaged. The BMW passenger mirror was broken and the door paint, dented, and scratched.

Nevertheless, on October 8, 2020, we received an email reply from the following sales representative:

"Hello, I have emailed the warehouse staff in Gardena I

hope they will reply soon about missing cargo."

Kind Regards,

Ron Turnage - Sales Representative, Automobile Shipping

Up to the present time we have not heard back from anyone in Gardena or any other Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc. office. As has been noted, Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc., charged us an additional $5,245 USD from the original quote of $3,115.00 USD--60% more than the original quote. This amount does not include additional $4367.67 for unloading, taxes, customs, storage, and duplicate billing for one 40-foot exclusive container of which two HBL invoices (LGB77286 and LGB77288) were paid to Sparber Líneas Marítimas in Spain. In addition, we had to pay an additional $1,100 USD for a storage space for the missing cargo never arrived to its destination. Total expenses and hidden costs $29,647 dollars

Incompetent movers and horrible customer service

We hired Schumacher to move us from Denver, Colorado to Sydney Australia

What started out positive went downhill quickly as soon as the subcontracted movers arrived at our home to pack. We paid for an entire container and a 2 day pack. The movers arrived and proceeded to pack our entire house, including open containers of food, vitamins, medication and anything that wasn't nailed down. Our contact at Schumacher - Mark Neville disappeared and didn't return emails as to where our container was until we arrived in Sydney 1 week later.

Things have progressively gotten worse as our shipment was clearly not in one container and we are missing 1 section of our couch, an entire box of kitchen items and just about every piece of furniture is scratched or chipped. My entire set of dishes were smashed, glasses were broken, and items were also missing from boxes.\

The level of service has been the worst I have ever experienced and don't think that the boxes and couch will ever be found. In fact, I seriously doubt that Schumacher is actually searching for them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Totally Incompetent - CEO, Martin Baker’s word means nothing

I hope people read these reviews and not the ones on their site that give them a 4.5. That’s a joke. They have been dishonest, gave me wrong customs information that ended up costing me thousands of dollars, I have broken items that weren’t even wrapped, I have irreplaceable items that never arrived. What a mess. But, worst of all, the CEO, Martin Baker, who said I should only communicate with him, won’t even reply. It’s been 10 days now. He treats me like I’m invisible. I believe it’s because I’m a middle-aged female. He thinks by avoiding me I’ll just disappear.

Friendly, Responsive & Competitive.

We brought about 1 bedroom worth of goods and a vehicle. From start to finish these guys were a pleasure to work with. Steve in their NJ office was always happy to help and when he could talk to us over the phone. Email was best with the time change but always a quick turn around. Their pickup crew did an amazing job packing and handling our goods in NSW in short time and we couldn't have asked for a better team on delivery day. No breakages, can't thank them enough.

"lost" 3 of 23 boxes.

Schumacher logistics I shipped 23 boxes of household goods with Schumacher from the US to the UK. They took several weeks longer than planned, charged me for extra checks and services not in the original quote twice and then lost three of my very large wardrobe boxes. They noticed the three boxes were missing two weeks before scheduled delivery to me and did not notify me. At the time of writing (three weeks later) they are still lost.

I strongly advise against using this company service.

Used them in 2015. Everything went fine in the beginning.
Good customer service, advisible agent and everything was smoothly prepared.

The chaos began when the car was shipped. They totaly lost control of the shipment.
Car was shipped to different port then agreed with a big delay and all additional costs were passed to me.

Changing port destination resulted in
- higher port costs
- additional documentation cost (T1 documents)
- additional transportation fees by land to another country
- delay in time
- documents lost for a couple of days
- lots of stress

After changing the port destination they did not even have a reliable company to take care of the transport.
They changed it after realizing it will cost them a little bit more money. This resulted in documents being stucked.

The documents deliver was delayed because of Schumacher poor and cheap handling which resulted
in again me having to cover additional costs.

I had to chase the transpor vendors by myself and track my car documents to find out that they sent it with regular cheap mail..

The car delivery to customs needed to be delayed thenas I needed to get the documents first..
Car secure parking costs for a couple of days were passed to me again.

Car delivery took them 3 months in total.

After many complains they agreed to cover some of the additional costs but NEVER DID just ignored my further complains.

Amateur handling.
After the car is shipped they do not care anymore and will only think about reducing their costs at the expense of the client.

They make extra money from the US Custom Exams.

They make extra money from the US Custom Exams. Please be careful with the excessive fees that Schumacher Cargo bills you.

Emlie Matos, the Import Coordinator and Ruth Ortiz, the Import Freight Cashier made false caculation on the charges on Custom Exams.

My container from UK to US were shared by 23 people. The cost on US Custom Exams is bleow:

1st attachment- Tailgate exam $250.00. Tailgate exams is when US Customs opens your container and inspects inside.

2nd attachment- X-ray exam 250.00. X-ray exam is self-explanatory. X-ray machine used to inspect.

3rd attachment. CEX (contraband examination $295.00) CCP (customs clearance at port $25.00)

Total fees for container on Exams: $820

The total volum of 23 people in my container is 2400 Cft. Mine is 440 Cft. It is not 490 CFT. All the charges are based on volume. My items takes 18% volum of the container
My Charge on Exams:
$820 x 18%=$148

Invoice# 156938: $43.76 (Demurrage)

Total Fees:
$148+$43.76=$191.76

But I was billed $299.59.
Invoice# 156637: $255.83 (Exams)
Invoice# 156938: $43.76 (Demurrage)
Total amount due: $299.59

Emile and Ruth said my stuffs took majority space of the container. I contacted the UK cargo company who did the shipping. In fact, mine only took 18% of the contrainer. It is unfair to demand me to pay for the most of US Custom Exams fees.

Emlie Matos and Ruth Ortiz are not willing to correct their wrong caculation, intead they threaten me to start storage charge if I don't pay for what they want.

It is horrendous and stressful expenrience to deal with them.

Sent my vehicle from Miami to Valencia , Spain. Everything was perfect until the moment I paid the invoice, 3 months with no information, no one answered my emails until the moment I called by bank to chargeback for a service that were not rendered.
Basically, they just get the money and forget about you and your shipment. They car never shipped, no answer about when to be delivered, no bill of landing or export documents to proof they were about to send it. I have to fly back to the USA to pick the car and now they charge me for storage to release my property.

Move back to NY.

This summer my family moved back from France. Schumacher was our agent in the US and they handled the move back pretty well. Once my stuff arrived, they let me know and said to give them some time to schedule a delivery. It took them about a week to get this scheduled, then had it delivered a few days after that. When unpacking, they tried to go through the boxes with me, though it was all very fast. I confirmed all my items were there, then they left. All in all I would use them again, but would like more communication through the process.

Extremely rude, unhelpful staff.

I moved from the UK to the US using Anglo Pacific in June of this year.

Schumacher Cargo Logistics was the contractor handling the American side of the move.

The tracking website does not correspond which what is actually happening with your shipment. It would quote a 5 business day process and then you wouldn't hear back for up to 3 weeks.

When I contacted my delivery coordinator, Daisy, she was extremely unprofessional and rude. She was incredibly slow to respond to easy emails, and cherry-picked parts of my email she would respond to.

Finally, I asked for the delivery agent's information so that I could correspond directly with them. She took extremely long to respond and finally said they would have "not have any clue of who you are" because no trip to Washington state had been scheduled yet. The problem here is my furniture had already been delivered by the time she finally responded! She had no idea where any of my shipment even was.

It was incredibly important given my job to have a reasonable amount of notice as to when my furniture would be delivered (48+ hours absolute minimum) and instead I was informed out of the blue 3 hours before everything arrived.

I don't feel comfortable paying a firm that cannot keep track of where my belongings are. I am part of a group that relocates for work quite a bit and after this awful experience I will recommend that everyone stays away from Schumacher Cargo Logistics.

I was able to ship some furniture and few boxes to Madrid from my apartment in Brooklyn. I though I was going to have to leave these items behind, but I did take a chance and see what the prices were to actually move my stuff with me. In the end I payed a little over $2100 on the US side and an additional $600 in Spain. This was less than I expected and the prices were decently explained to me based on the overall size of the items. Because of this I was able to shed some items and bring the cost down. I have my furniture here with me and am using it now, so overall it went as expected.

Overall, the whole service and experience were great. The team who packed our things in NY did everything in two hours and left our place empty and clean. Considering we ended up moving in the middle of the pandemic our shipment has arrived in Singapore before us.

The delivery was also great - nothing to complain about.

Final stage from Australia

Moved from Australia to USA, Schumacher Cargo Logistics, was the company in the USA that received my items, they waited a month after receiving items before they scheduled delivery to me, then rented a uhaul with an excessive charge when they could have park the large semi outside my house and unloaded (there is a semi truck company two doors up the street on the opposite side, so they lied in saying that trucks could not use our road. They said nothing about the cost until two weeks after they delivered my items, then they sent me a bill on Dec. 16th that had a due date of Dec. 16th. When I questioned the cost of the Uhaul they claimed the semi could not come down my street and that if I did not pay the bill by the next day they would send it to collection. Difficult communication, took months to refund my security deposit, ca

I did a small shipment of 21 carton boxes (1 bedroom apartment) (no furniture) from New York City to Switzerland via freight. I got a very good price (1400 SUD), since I was not in a rush and didn’t mind to do freight shipment (delivery time: 3 months). Initially the communication was good with my contact person Christopher, but as soon as I paid for the shipment, they stopped answering my emails. I was not able to update important changes in the delivery address or on the insurance that they made mistakes on (I paid for it, but they didn't seem to acknowledge that in the online portal). Ultimately, it seems I did have insurance – according to a phone conversation I had with them, but I am unsure it would have been easy to activate it there was a problem. I was able to change delivery address at the end too. It was only when the cartons were taken over by their correspondent in Europe (ITO) that things got better again with respect to communication (ITO did a fine job). Pick up in New York by Schumacher was on time and staff was friendly and professional and everyone wore masks (Covid times). My cartons arrived in Switzerland, pretty much on time (3 months 1 week, i.e. 1 week late, but there was Christmas in the middle) and in good condition. Delivery staff (ITO, from the German correspondent) were good too. Importantly, I made a mistake: I was supposed to pay only the announced price (1400 USD) but remove the security deposit (250 USD) that I had already paid in advance. This was stated in an email but not clearly visible and my bill was not updated so I missed it. So I paid 250 USD too much. It took them 4 months to pay me back after endless (dozens) emails and phone calls, and ultimately having to post bad reviews online for them to finally pay me back (which they did – the same day I posted the bad reviews; now that they paid I updated my review).

They are not even licensed! STAY AWAY

Please do not use this company. I could write a very lengthy review but let me sum this up by saying I lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau after Schumacher forced me to pay an additional $1325 for insurance that I declined (and were going to hold my items at ransom if I didn't pay). They still did not directly respond to the complaint and when I spoke to BBB, they said there were many complaints against this company within their system and Schumacher had not been responding to any of them. BBB suggested I escalate the complaint which I now have. I have just received the following email back:

"The Bureau of Household Goods and Services has received your complaint. The Bureau has forwarded the complaint to the Investigation Unit as the company you contracted with does not have a license to operate as a moving company in California. The Bureau regulates moves and moving companies within California.Since you contracted with an unlicensed moving company, under California’s Business & Professions Code, Section 19237, subdivision (b), you can pursue the company civilly to recover all money paid to them."

Do NOT believe the reviews on their website. They are most likely falsified reviews. They have a great 'front line' service that makes you think you're in excellent hands and these people really understand what's going on. Its a CON. We paid more than $10k for our move and then we were advised that Customs had decided to take our container for an "invasive inspection". We then got an additional bill for $2350 but we received NO paperwork whatsoever to verify that US Customs had actually taken our container, and no reason for why this might have happened. Frankly, we believe this is part of their 'racket' and we have no evidence at all that Customs actually did take the container. Whether they did or not is almost irrelevant because the whole operation was so shonky and questionable and BBB has confirmed they get a ton of complaints, and now the Dept of Household Goods has informed they aren't even licensed. Stay as far away from them as possible!

Avoid these people at all costs. I moved from the US to Germany, and had a horrible and expensive experience.

The only time they were responsive is at the beginning, when pestering me to sign a contract for > $10K. I chose to go with them on the advice of some friends who used them a few years ago. What a difference a few years makes.

I paid for a full service move, "including all agent's fees". I was still charged by their german partner, ITO, who are so clueless that they don't even know what form to ask for for customs. In order to get my stuff, I had to pay additional agent fees for customs clearance.

These people will take your money, and never respond to you. You have to know what to ask for, and when to push for it. They will give you nothing, and their international partners are incompetent. They will cause you a great deal of stress at a very high price.

They are terrible.

International move from Los Angeles, CA to , Canton of Geneva

Los Angeles to Switzerland - 15 Weeks

We moved from LA to Geneva in 2018. I was told in email, by phone, and in person that the move would take "7-8 weeks, door to door." Our stuff was picked up Aug 14, delivered 15 weeks later on Nov 29. That's double the time they told us it would take. Why a review now? I'm moving back, and looking at all these moving companies brought memories of the experience. I feel that 3 stars is being generous.
